The Porsche Museum in Stuttgard, Germany is open to the public as of 31st January and was designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects as a dynamically formed organism, inviting new ideas on the use of gravity and space to establish a new basis in the foundations of architecture.
The Porsche company archive is also housed here and in addition to a restaurant and coffee bar in the foyer, there’s a conference area on the top floor as well as an exclusive restaurant, which will be opened independently of the museum operation and may also be leased by external interested parties.
The exterior is simultaneously engaging and appropriately reflective of the stature and confidence of the brand. Textural surface alterations and varying levels and angles offer a structural complexity reflecting the manufacture of a well-oiled machine, while slashes of glazing allow the building to shine outwardly and beckon passers-by inside, further lured by a gently sloped ramp towards the entrance.
